USSSA Ad In Action!

To see this ad in the winter publication was really exciting for me. Coupled with the publication's editor saying, "I think this is the best ad to date", this has supported that I am a highly creative graphic designer achieving one more step towards greatness. Just a quick note on the photo: I got some advice to add an environment to this and add some more creativity in presenting this. This was fun to do but hard to find baseball fields that are good to photograph in the off season!

The Wild Web Design World

I am currently looking to enhance my web experience by trying to solve the how did they do that questions I ask as I look at the expert sites that are built. One thing I am working on is spry menu bars or drop down menus to the common person. Yes they are seemingly basic but getting them to work PROPERLY is the challenge. I have formatting and basic color down but not the addition of a custom image.

Another future web item I would like to master is the overlayed background image behind the main body of the site (e.g. boombah.com). I haven't investigated this yet but I am working towards this goal.

I am working on these solutions to get those in my web arsenal.

HTC Graphix Web Design Project

It was great to hear from a grade school friend of mine, Dan Bucci, who owns HTC Graphix. I am helping him out by re-designing his website. It always brings a warm feeling when I can help anyone to solve their business needs. Heck, it's getting towards the holidays--sharing is giving...at least I think that is how it goes. I will keep you posted on this and share the final result when it's completed.

Inspiration and Encouragement

Recently, I have been doing a little more hand drawings and transferring to digital. Reason: the company I work for doesn't want to invest in the design department hence, artists are creating clipart. As a result I have brought out the pencil and paper and have been encouraged by my co-worker and good friend, Matthew Sharp.

Since he has worked with me, I have seen his work and has really made me think about getting back into the non digital side of art. I have a background in drawing and that is my foundation to getting into the graphic industry. Matt has developed a new website, Midwest Work Ethic which I always enjoy looking at.

This should give me a good kick in the ass to get back into hand drawing in the very near future.

I have worked on is the initial concepts for branding Hosanna Christian School in Portland, Oregon. I got very positive feedback but haven't heard if they want to move forward or not. I have donated my time for this project because they are a small school. Also, I have also further developed DJ Damion's website to meet his needs. Visit djdamion.com to check out the web updates.

The process of building a website at times can make you feel tortured and make you want to pull your hair out. If it isn't some little HTML coding problem then it's a bigger or more important problem like putting the appropriate content on a particular page. I had hard time with the home page. I decided to have it reflect who I am and get back to the basis of my design skills. Through all the hard work, procrastination and decision making, the end result was well worth my time and effort.
